Camilla Sue Walker was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on February 6, 1973, the daughter of Larry and Carol (Greathouse) Walker. The family moved to Kimball in 1975 when Cami was 2 years old. She attended Kimball Public Schools and graduated in 1991 as the Valedictorian of her class. During her junior high and high school years, Cami participated in the Daisy BB Shooting Program and competed at the national level for two years. She had a passion for writing, which was displayed in high school where she was an editor of the school newspaper and active member of the yearbook staff. Cami attended the UNL on a Regents Scholarship, where she received her education in journalism, followed by a career as a copy editor in advertising in San Francisco.
In 2006, shortly after her marriage to Mark Atherly, she was diagnosed with MS, and after the initial struggle, she was the author of the book "29 Gifts," which was a collection of 29 short stories about her journey with the disease. Cami then worked with the MS Society and traveled around the United States telling her story. Cami and Mark later divorced. She moved to Denver and later met her husband Kevin Foster, and their son Henry was born in 2013.
She loved yoga and travel, she liked the beach. Cami was opinionated and whip smart. She took risks and was unafraid to move out of her comfort zone. She would often push others to move out of theirs as well. Cami was always searching – looking for spirituality and meaning in her life.
Survivors include her parents Larry and Carol of Kimball, NE; husband Kevin and son Henry of Denver; sisters Joelle (John) Fiehtner of Kimball, NE., and Deena Walker (Dave Barrett) of Portland, OR; niece Taylor and nephews Thomas and Evan; 3 step nieces and 1 step nephew; several aunts, uncles, cousins and other loved ones. She was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents Floyd and Agatha Walker and Bill and Gladys Greathouse.
