Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Show Must Go On, But It Will Be Different
Some local decisions have been made for the Kimball-Banner County Fair to proceed with the COVID-19 situation, and the local fair board is following the recommendations of the governor's task force.
The horse show will probably be the least affected event at the fair. Participants will be staying 6 feet apart from one another and practicing social distancing.
There will be no in-person Parade of Champions, but plans are to have it done virtually.
The Round Robin Championship will not happen this year, although they are working on a replacement competition.
The livestock show will have a number of changes, and it will be run more like a progress show,
"Show and Go." Individual species will be shown on specific days. The animals will be brought to the fairgrounds in the morning, judged and taken back home.
The fair will be open to family members of those showing, although others will be able to watch the fair as it will be live streamed.
The livestock auction will be online with the details to be worked out in the near future.
Fair officials are still working on the details to figure out how to organize the Static and Clothing Day.
The deadline is June 15 to register for the Kimball-Banner County Fair.
According to the extension office, the fair is still planned for Aug. 3-10. Some schedule changes will be made, but those changes have not been finalized as of now.
