Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Our Kimball guy, Mike Daum, had two more good showings in The Basketball Tournament being played in Columbus, Ohio, that was shown on ESPN.
You hopefully caught the story last week of him being named Player of the Game in their opening week over War Tampa 76-53, when he led his House of Paign team with 21 points and 13 rebounds.
This past week he repeated in game two as Player of the Game in the 76-68 win over the hosting Carmen’s Crew, an Ohio State team playing on their own stomping ground, and they were the number one seed and defending champions and heavily favored.
Mike had 23 points going 8-10 on field goals, including 3 for 3 on 3 pointers and 4 for 4 at the foul line. He also had 8 rebounds.
It came to an end, however, in his third game as the House of Paign, felt the pain with an 83-76 loss to Red Scare and Mike was held to 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 1 assist. The Red Scare coach said they had a game plan of holding Daum down, and they did a good job on our guy.
Big Mike still played with great effort and was praised in all three games as a very possible NBA candidate. If no NBA teams come calling, Mike will go back to Spain, when they say it is OK.
And get ready for his second professional season after his outstanding career at South Dakota State, where he set all kinds of records not only for his school but Nationally! And it all started right here in good ole Kimball, Nebraska! We are Proud of you Big Mike!
