Vince's Tourney: A Success Once Again

The 11th annual Vince’s Corner ABCD Double Draw Golf Scramble is in the books and the 132 golfers who made up the 33 four man teams enjoyed two days of hot, but calm weather, with no storms, and a golf course that brought raves from many of the out of town golfers.

It all started with a Friday night get together at the Wind Break Restaurant where the drawing for Saturday’s play took place, and was repeated Saturday evening for Sunday play. In the two day final results, the top honor went to A golfer Andrew Brown as the hometown guy finished first in the A golfer competition with a two day handicap total of 116.925 to edge out Kendall Ferguson who finished 2nd at 118.000. Brandon Starks was 3rd with 118.570, and Jack Stafford 4th with 119.387. Henry Heeg Jr, who won top place in Saturday play, was just out of the top four with his final score of 120.388.

Top man in the B division was Charles Ferguson with Jason Petik 2nd, Dean Golding 3rd and Bill Sinner 4th. Mike Stafford was the winner in the C Division with Matt Silverman 2nd, Kelly Garrett 3rd, and Lloyd Howard 4th. Tyler Stafford won the D division with Shane Deshay 2nd, Gary Haack 3rd, and Jeff Dunn 4th.

Looking first at Saturday play with a total of 6 teams getting payout in day money both days, the team of Henry Heeg Jr, Charles Ferguson, Mike Stafford, and Tyler Stafford finished on top. The team of Corbett Hahn, Cory Huston, Dave Mann, and Shane Deshay was 2nd, Andrew Brown, Jason Petik, Jon Lauer, and Dan Dorward 3rd, Kendall Ferguson, Robert Carrizles, Gene Golding, and Joe Fennell 4th, Brandon Starks, Jason Fulk, Matt Silverman, Trendon Hinton 5th, and the team of Shane Hays, Lynn Anthony, Trevan Hinton, Anthony Osborn was 6th.

There were 2 skins paid for Saturday play with the Kevin Thomas, Bill Sinner, Scott Sterling, Jon Staehr team scoring a 3 for Eagle on hole 16, and the team of Troy Roubottom, Tanner Hinton, Gary Monson, Mike Reuter scoring a 2 for Eagle on hole number 15.

In Sunday play, the top team was Doug Millay, Tanner Hinton, EJ Weber, Mike Reuter. In 2nd place was Andrew Brown, Jason Petik, Matt Silverman, Jeff Dunn. Third place was Evan Lerma, Charles Ferguson, Lloyd Howard, Tyler Stafford. Fourth place was Michael Plate, Bill Sinner, Mike Stafford, Gary Haack. Fifth place Kendall Ferguson, Dave Mccarville, Shane Reynolds, Bert Linn. Sixth place was Brandon Starks, Tom O’Brien, Gary Monson, Shane Deshay.

There was only 1 skin on Sunday with the team of Andrew Brown, Jason Petik, Matt Silverman, Jeff Dunn scoring 2 on hole number 5 for an Eagle.

Along with all of the above prize winners, there were 36 flag prizes handed, plus 10 more great prizes from raffles, and the “Head Man,” the “Man in charge,” Mr. Henry Heeg said they raised $1,300 for the USO off the betting holes.

When asked for his comments on this year’s tournament, Henry said, “It all went great. The Four Winds Pro Shop crew, Jeremy Williams and his crew, do such a good job, and my family will all jump in and help with everything and do a great job as well.”

When asked if next year’s scramble is already in the planning, Henry said, “ It is, but I’m glad it is a year away.”
