Flowerfield School, Grasshoppers In Banner County News

Good morning! Not much going on here this morning, and I am not complaining about that. Very little news at this time.

People are pretty busy in the fields and all of the local Farmers Markets are in full swing. Areas that I am aware of are Bridgeport, Scottsbluff, Gering, and Mitchell. If you have not got there dates and times down, call the area chamber of commerce and they will help you out.

County fairs are still also being held and I did see that the annual Rubber Check Race held during the Scottsbluff County Fair has been sold out. So if you have not bought tickets for that save yourself some driving time and at least contact them before you head that way.

Bands on Broadway will still take place this evening, July 30th at the 18th Street Plaza in Scottsbluff from 6- 9 p.m.

On The 31st and final day of July the Farmers to Families will continue at CAPWN from 9 - 10:30 a.m.

On August 1st the folks down south in Kimball will be involved in the annual Kimball Hospital Foundation Golf Classic. This is the 29th year for them and registration and lunch will begin at noon at the Four Winds golf course. The deadline to enter is TODAY, July 30th. For more information please call 308-235-4241.

I also read that our little Flowerfield School held here for 4th grade students for many, many area schools will be postponed until the spring of 2021. As far as I know that is a first.

The pool area of the YMCA is closed for now because they are repairing the roof. Once that is finished they will be ready for you.

We recently attended an evening birthday party at the Gering pool. Lots of kids, squealing, jumping and even a little swimming. Lots and lots of dragon flies and a beautiful evening.

Happy Happy Birthday this week to: Daxton Kling, Sarah Olsen, Bobbie May, Sarah Mason, Shelly Cross, Brittany Luppen, Weston Lind, and Christopher Talkington.

Anniversary congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin McMgowan, Chris Kling, Eric Anderson, Jack Revelle and Michael Macias.

Grasshoppers. We sure have our share. We have had them sprayed twice.

So I will say this so as to end on a happy note: If you can’t see the bright side of life, polish the dull side.

Have a great week and take care until next time.
