143 Students Expected At Banner County School This Year

Good morning Banner County! After a few weeks of local County Fairs, ready or not here comes “back to school!”

I think I am ready. However, we have one more exciting summer event to look forward to and that is the Hot Air Balloons that arrived Wednesday out at the WNCC campus for the first of two Night Glow sessions. The 14th & 15th they will be at Mitchell Airfield at 6:30 a.m. and then they will be at Five Rocks Amphitheater on the 15th from 7-10 p.m. for the second Night Glow.

Also during the day on Saturday, August 15th there will be a Craft Fair on Center Avenue in Mitchell from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mitchell will also have Farmers Market sales today August 13th, and so will Torrington, and Bands on Broadway will take place at the 18th Street Plaza from 6-9 p.m.

The Scottsbluff and Morrill Farmers Market will be held on Saturday, August 15th and for Gering on the 17th, and back in Morrill again on Tuesday the 18th. Bridgeport will move their Farmers Market to a pre-order schedule beginning on the 19th by calling 308-279-1296, 4 p.m. Another GroBigRed virtual session via zoom will be offered on Tuesday, August 18th by logging in to https://go.unl.edu/grobigredvirtual. This session is on herbs and will begin at 6 p.m.

School is back in session for the Harrisburg students on Monday, Aug. 17, for K-12 and the 19th for Pre-K. At this time, 143 students are expected.

Getting older, have you ever noticed that when you are right, no one remembers, and when you are wrong, no one forgets? Think most of us learn that by the time we have our 20th birthday!

Oh, well. Here is just a little heads up. I have heard on the news that a suspicious person has tried to enter several homes in rural areas recently. Same guy, in a red or white pickup, and if the door is answered he is asking for help with an injured dog. For your safety, please keep your doors locked and be aware!
