Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
At the time of this writing, and unless I hear a change, we will have no Nebraska football as the Big 10 has voted not to play.
What I heard on Monday was that only Nebraska and Iowa voted to go ahead with the fall season, but I guess there could be a change yet. Interesting and disappointing.
High School
Practice Is On
I did get word on Monday that the Kimball High fall sports are scheduled to proceed and fall sports practices began this past Monday.
Practice time now until school starts on August 20th has girls golf at 7 a.m., cross country at 4 p.m., football at 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 4 p.m. on Friday, and volleyball will hold two-a-days at 9 to 11 and 3 to 5.
Nebraska High Schools have gotten word from the NSAA to proceed as usual.
I can see situations all fall however where an athlete may test positive for the covid-19 and just like that their game for that week will be cancelled, thus causing the healthy team they were scheduled to play to miss play that week also.
Lance
Juelfs
A lot of golf still being played and there is an exciting and very unusual happening to report from the annual Bags' Bar 4-person scramble held this past weekend at the Potter Golf Course.
Lance Juelfs scored 2 hole-in-ones getting one each day, in this two day tournament.
That's TWO hole-in-ones in the same tournament!
On top of this, his team consisting of himself, Lane Juelfs, Morgan Haupt, and Doran Bush won the tournament as well. They were the best of the 28 teams entered, which made up the 112 golfers who took part in the event that offers morning and afternoon flights. My congrats to you Lance. An amazing accomplishment!
End Of
Season Golf
As play in the Kimball Leagues wind down, we will have some results to pass your way starting next week, and I welcome any tips on any kind of sports happenings you readers might wish to send my way.
