Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Good morning! We are still having mornings that are pretty dulled by all of the surrounding fires, usually burning off by noon.
There have been some blood red/hot pink sunrises too if you might have noticed. Hot days for awhile yet, but they sure are getting shorter.
Can’t believe that September is almost here. Labor Day weekend will soon be here and I always feel that summer is out the door at that time.
Our gardens have been keeping many gals busy with canning and freezing. Farmers Markets are still going strong and dates for those are: August 27th & September 3rd, Mitchell & Torrington; August 29th & September 5th, Scottsbluff; August 31st Gering, September 1st and 5th, Morrill; and September 2nd at Bridgeport.
More canning and freezing. On Saturday, August 29th the 5th Annual Fall River Hot Air Balloon Festival will begin at 6 a.m. at the Hot Springs, S.D. airport. Entrance and parking is Free and the event will continue the next day, same place, same time, all weather permitting.
The local Extension office will offer another GroBigRed virtual learning class on September 1st. This will be via Zoom at 6 p.m. and will concern tree planning. Following that on September 2nd there will be a Webinar: “Communication With Farmer’s Under Stress.” This is also Free and is brought to you through the Nebraska Extension in partnership with Michigan State University Extension. It will run from 9:30-11:00 a.m.
So here is a heads up for September 5th & 6th. Those are the dates for the next Potter Days. Might want to keep that in mind.
Here at the schoolhouse they have cross country at Scottsbluff on Thursday, August 27th (Today!) at 1 p.m.
On September 3rd, the following Thursday there will be the first home high school football game, Opponent is Minatare and game time is 7 p.m. Good luck Wildcats!
There will be No school on Friday, September 4th, but the cross country team will compete in Gering. There also will be No school the following Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day.
