Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Clean Harbors Vice President for Compliance and Regulatory Affairs Phillip Retallic spoke to the Western Nebraska Observer on Tuesday about the alleged violations and the settlement reached at the Kimball Clean Harbors Environmental Service facility.
The action, he said, is “a consummation negotiations between all the parties, Clean Harbors Environmental Services, U.S. EPA Region 7 and the Nebraska Department of Environmental Protection.”
Retallic continued to explain: “There were a number of allegations that were included in several notices of violation over a period of years, most of the violations were what we consider with respect to the ranking system, minor, moderate, or major, most were minor. There were no adverse impacts to human health and the environment as a result of the alleged violations. But it is our position to resolve these matters with the regulatory agencies because we want to maintain our position as a good neighbor in the community rather than litigate issues we decided to settle. As far as we are concerned once the consent agreement is consummated the issues are addressed, then we move on.”
