Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball Longhorns had a rough go of it in their 2020 football opener, losing 66-6 last Friday to visiting Hitchcock County Trojans.
“It was a tough game for us and we weren’t ready to play, Kimball coach Ben Aarestad told The Observer. “We just need to get some more practice time in and hopefully not make as many mental mistakes.“
Next up for Kimball is a 1 p.m. Friday home nonconference game wtih Leyton.
“I think Leyton is a very good football team,” Aarestad said. “They have some kids that have good size, good speed and they play aggressive. It will be a very tough game for us. We are just trying to get better as a football team and hopefully take 1 positive out of the game on Friday.
Christian Van Pelt scored the lone Kimball TD in the opener on a 45-yard run.
