Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The Kimball Lady Longhorn golf team finished second at the Gering Invitational Tournament this past week with a good showing against a field of big schools including the talent loaded Scottsbluff team who won top team honors with a score of 317, with all five of their golfers in the top 10 medal group, including medalist Emily Krzwyzanowski with her round of 76. The Bearcat ladies also placed 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 10th in a display of team strength.
Kimball had a good day finishing runnerup with 408, Gering was next with 416 followed by Chadron with 416, Alliance 426, Mitchell 432, Gordon/Rushville 472, Bridgeport 476, while Sidney, Ogallala and Bayard all had golfers but no team score.
Once again Payton Wise led the Kimball team as low scorer with her round of 42-41=83 to finish 5th in the top 10 medal group.
Kimball coach Culek has praised her play overall and said she had a bit of trouble with her putting. A good day for senior Brooklin Golding who had a round of 54-46=100. Katie Heeg shot 52-55=107, Maddie Cook 63-55=118, and Keara O’Brien 70-68=138.
The Kimball girls were at Ogallala this past Tuesday and are at Bridgeport today (Thursday) to close out the regular season schedule before moving into District play October 5th or 6th.
