Marvin J. Smith

Marvin J. Smith, 79, of Bushnell, passed away at the Medical Center of the Rockies on Wednesday,

September 23, 2020. Cremation will be held and family memorial services will be held at a later date.

Marvin James Smith was born in Dowling, Michigan on March 9, 1941, the son of Herman Smith and Catherine (Ford) Smith, and Step Father (Palmer TenEyck). He was raised and attended school in Michigan. After completing his education, he worked in the area for several different farmers. He enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1959. He was married to Alice Mathre on July 1, 1960 while being stationed at Warren Air Force base in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Upon being discharged the family moved back to Michigan and he returned to working on the farm. Marvin then went to work for the State of Michigan as a corrections officer until retiring in 1996. They moved to Laramie, Wyoming in 1999 and lived there until moving to Bushnell in 2004.

He enjoyed spending time fishing and always had fun seeing who caught the biggest fish. Marvin was an avid wrestling fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and enjoyed bowling. Family was always important to him, and he enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marvin liked to tinker in the shop and fix things. He enjoyed sharing jokes and telling stories to his family and friends. Marvin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Alice Smith of Bushnell, NE; children Jerri (Dave) Trippett of Bushnell, NE., James A. Smith of Bushnell, NE., and Jack (Tracy) Smith of Texas; 5 brothers and 3 sisters; grandchildren Krystal (Chad), Maranda, Ashlee, Adam, Ronnie, and Dillon; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
