Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Kimball's Lady Longhorn Volleyball team has had a tough time getting wins, but were able to grab one this week in the three matches they played. Last Tuesday the 22nd, Kimball traveled to Hershey and were overpowered by the Lady Panthers in straight sets, 25-to-3, 25-to-12 and 25-to-8. The Kimball squad was outhit 34-to-8 in the loss.
Kimball came home and hosted a Triangular on Thursday, and was able to defeat Hay Springs in a heated battle. After taking the first set 25-to-23, Hay Springs came back to even the match with a 25-to-15 second set victory. But the Lady Longhorns turned up the pressure and put away the Lady Hawks 25-to-13 in the third set for the 2-to-1 match victory. Sophomore Jayden Paxton led the offense with 10 kills.
Next the Lady Longhorns faced off against Leyton, a team they lost a close match to start the season. Kimball came out fired up and took the first set 25-to-17. But Leyton responded by winning the second set 25-to-14 and then outlasting the Lady Longhorns in a marathon third set, finally pulling out the 29-to-27 win for the 2-to-1 match victory. Paxton again led the offense with 8 kills in the loss.
Kimball was scheduled to travel to Pine Bluffs on Tuesday for a non-conference match against the Lady Hornets.
