Lynn Vogel Steps Down From School Board

Long time Kimball School Board member Lynn Vogel submitted her letter of resignation at the regular board meeting on Monday, Oct. 12. Vogel and her husband will be moving out of the area.

Vogel stated in her letter: “I am proud of our collective achievements and the significant progress the Board has made toward improving our Kimball Public School system. As a board and as individuals, your commitment toward maintaining the Board’s Level of Excellence is commendable, i.e. Policy 203.09. I feel lucky to have volunteered by your side these past years.”

Vogel has been a school board member for 16 years.

With the Nov. 3 election approaching, the board approved a resolution to fill the vacancy on the board with the fourth-place finisher in the upcoming school board election. The first three places will be seated in January. The fourth-place individual will be sworn in and take office for the November meeting and complete the remaining portion of Vogel term.

In other business, as the COVID-19 Health Risk Dial moved into the orange category for the week of Oct. 19-23. Superintendent Trevor Anderson said that the district will continue being diligent. This includes temperature checks, social distancing and when social distancing is not possible, wearing masks.

Parent-teacher conferences are planned, and Anderson said face masks will be required at the parent-teacher conferences. If parents object to masks, a zoom meeting will be available for those parents.

Anderson said, “I can’t risk staff members health.”

The Winter Activities Plan is still up in the air, and Anderson said that he was waiting for guidance from the state for upcoming winter activities.

Numerous minutes were approved, bills were paid, policies were reviewed, and administrators’ and superintendent’s reports were discussed in the board meeting.

The next meeting of the Kimball School Board will be Nov. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Room W5 at the JR/SR High School.
