Wind Blows Through, Life Carries On In Banner County

Good Morning and Happy Fall y’all! I have had my doubts as to what season we were in here this past month or so, but it blew in this past weekend for sure. Wow, the wind we had here this past Sunday was outrageous.

Needless to say the horseshoe tournament with the Harrisburg Community Church was postponed until another time. Thank goodness it died down that evening and the sun shined bright and beautiful Monday morning.

In the valley the Spooktacular continues out at the Riverside Discovery Center and they are planning on moving Smokey and Bandit into their new digs on Saturday, October 17th. The home warming ( of sorts ) will include the announcement of the winner of the coloring contest, free gummy bears and other give a ways, and one huge stuffed bear. Plan on stopping by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and check out what is going on!

The YMCA is still looking for vendors for the craft fair which they plan on having sometime in November and a contact # for them is 635-2318. Morrill still has opening dates for the Farmers Market and those dates and times are the 17th from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. and on the 20th from 3- 6 p.m.

The book sale at the Torrington library is still underway also. WNCC Theater Arts will be performing via wncc.edu/performingarts the offical WNCC Facebook page or Youtube channel on Friday - Sunday, October 16-18th at 7 p.m. The performance is “Riptide” by Therese Ranst.

Also on Saturday the 17th there will be an adult drive-through flu shot clinic at Regional West Medical Plaza- South from 8 - 11 a.m. and the 4th annual High Plains Mini-Con will take place at the Monument Mall. This event is self described as “nerd-centric comic book & pop culture” centered with live music, which will include local Gabe the Brute.

Here at home we have district cross country on Thursday the 15th at Bridgeport beginning at 3 p.m. and HS JV volleyball on Friday the 16th at Potter-Dix at 5:30 p.m. followed by HS football at 7 p.m. Good luck and safe travel to all of you!

Birthdays here this week include: Emilie Darnall, Dusty Elsen, Lane Godfery, Brad Brown, Brooke Talkington, Stephanie Schmidt, George Jerred, Brooke Wyatt, Addie Anderson, and MacKenzie Marlar. Happy Happy Birthday!

Anniversary congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Lane Darnall, Todd Baker, Travis Harrison, Alex Garcia and Chris McNees. Well, that’s all for now. Have a great week and take care until next time!
