Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
The recent fire on Horseshoe Hill created a little excitement for a couple of horses in an adjacent pasture. Owner Krystal Moody wanted to assure everyone that “the horses were moved to safety shortly after the fire started. They are safe and sound.”
The horses appeared to be a bit confused when the flames got close. Krystal said that she was worried they were going to run into the fire for a bit. She is very thankful that it wasn't worse and that a fence separated the horses from the fire.
The 13-year - mare and 17-year-old gelding were caught by Krystal, and then she walked them to the fairground where they stayed overnight.
Her neighbors called her when they heard it on the scanner.
“They knew my horses were over that way,” she said. “It was kind of crazy because I was asleep – I work night shift – and happened to hear my phone on vibrate.”
