Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First

Winter Arrives ... For Junior High Sports

The Winter Sports season is underway, at least for the Kimball Junior High. They participated in a junior high wrestling tournament at Harrisburg this past Saturday and I will hopefully have some results from that event by next week.

Kimball was scheduled to host their own junior high wrestling tournament this past Tuesday but that got postponed to November 16th. The Shorthorn wrestlers will be at Hemingford on November 12th.

Kimball Junior High Girls Basketball will also tip off today (Thursday) with the Kimball girls going to Bridgeport and then on November 10th they are at Pine Bluffs.

Potter-Dix

Football

Another big win by the Potter-Dix High football team as they won 66-34 over Wallace this past Friday night in six man state playoff action. They hosted that game at Al Combs Field and now they get to host again this Friday at 5 p.m. with Cody-Kilgore coming to town in the quarterfinals of the Class D6 football playoffs.

Kimball

Volleyball

The Kimball High volleyball season closed out this past week in sub-district play leaving the Lady Longhorns with a 4 win, 23 loss season, but to their credit, they gave a good effort each time out and the 3 seniors, including Sydney Biesecker, Megan Spicer, and Ashlynn Guzman, will certainly be missed next year. They were good leaders for this year’s team. Now a brief time out and then it is get ready for basketball.

Correction: All-Time

Kimball Girls Golf Teams

I have a correction to make from a story ran last week in regard to the all-time Kimball High girls golf teams who have qualified for the state tournament. Sometimes from the copy I submit, to the proofreader, to the printers, things change.

This was the case last week when it came out that the 1998 team that qualified finished FIRST, when in fact they finished LAST. Make that change on your sheets if you plan to keep those results for future reference.
