Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Good morning Banner County! Here is hoping that you all have been enjoying this great weather. I sure have, crunchy leaves underfoot and all!
There was a little bit of a setback Monday morning waking up to snow, however, not much to grumble about considering this is November.
November typically means the annual Fall Harvest Supper at the Harrisburg Community Church and this past Sunday folks who attended had a great time with fellowship coupled with great food and entertainment. Grant Robbins entertained us with fantastic banjo music accompanied on the mandolin by his mom, Bethany, and we surely thank them. These two wonderful musicians hail from Alliance.
Coming next to the Harrisburg Community Church is the Women’s Choir and Drama Team from Frontier School of the Bible on Sunday morning, November 22nd. Everyone is invited to attend.
I am sorry to report the recent passing of two long time Banner County residents. Lennis Anderson and J.W. Snyder both were life long residents of Banner County and graduates of Banner County High School. We extend our sympathy to both families.
Activity wise here at home we have junior high wrestling Thursday, November 12, Today!, in Hemmingford and again on Tuesday the 16th in Kimball. Both dates have a start up time of 10 a.m.
On Tuesday, November 17th the One Act students will travel to Leyton for their first competition of the season. Good luck to all of you and safe travel.
This is a little heads up ... School will be in regular session on Friday the 20th.
There has been a notice that the SkyView Drive-In Theater in Scottsbluff will continue showing movies through Christmas. There will be a few adjustments which have as of yet to be announced. Their spokesperson has said that “With the recent increases in cases of COVID-19 and public health challenges of containing the virus, the downtown Midwest Theater will remain closed.” Thus the continence of the Drive-In. I know they have some special events for December, but that is all I know for now.
Speaking of COVID. As you are aware, I am sure, cases are rising close to home, and by that I mean in surrounding counties. We have even had some here in our school, and maybe elsewhere in the county, I don’t know. Last week I stated in my newsletter that there were several cases at the school and I mistakenly upset the school administration with the use of the word “several.” I should have said three. I believe at this point that those infected are still quarantined or recovered. I am telling you this in case I offended anyone else out there, please accept my apology to you also.
Updates are on the school website too.
Veterans Day will be celebrated this Saturday, November 14th in Alliance with a parade that will begin at 11 a.m. Veterans are invited to walk or ride in the parade.
The winter farmers market will be at Monument Mall this Saturday from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Happy Happy Birthday this week to Keah Cross, Tom Neal, Kendra Marx and Scott Ansley.
Anniversary congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Casey Adrain, Doug Olsen and Monty Sandberg.
Well, folks, that is all for now. Have a great week and take care until next time, stay safe.
Barb Cross is at 436-7152.
