Eight Make All-District; Dale Frerichs Coach Of Year
Topping off a successful 9-1 football season, eight Potter-Dix Coyotes have been named to the All-District team and head coach Dale Frerichs has added to the team's 2020 accolades by receiving the Six-Man Berens Coaching Award from Huskerland Preps.
"There are lots of good coaches and it is an honor to win," he said. "It is very humbling."
Frerichs started his coaching career with eight-man football at Potter-Dix in 2005, when the enrollment numbers in high school were higher. The school went through a spell when they were short on numbers, and playing eight-man football with just 10 or 12 kids led to some very difficult seasons.
But finally, large freshman and sophomore classes supported the experienced junior and senior classes and the Coyotes turned around big-time, winning district this season and seeing action in two playoff games.
Here are the All-District team members:
1st Team Offense
QB Luke Kasten, sophomore.
End Javon Coyle, senior.
2nd Team Offense
RB Donnie Moench, senior.
C Kyle Evans, senior.
1st Team Defense
DL Conner Glanz, junior.
DB Jared Anton, junior.
2nd Team Defense
DB Brandon Mendoza, senior.
2nd Team Kicker
Brandon Mendoza, senior.
Honorable Mention
DL Anthony Tovar, junior.
