Shop With A Cop Tradition Carries On With New Name
Local children were treated to an early Christmas as Holiday Heroes, formerly known as Shop with a Cop, treated the kids to breakfast, rides on emergency vehicles and presents for themselves and members of their families.
The coordinator of Holiday Heroes, Erin Heidemann, reported that 14 children were recipients of the early Christmas project. Those children received special treatment from area police, firemen, state patrol and emergency responders as they each had an adult to help escort them to choose, carry and wrap their presents, and to eat breakfast with on Saturday morning.
Erin said without the generous donations of area individuals – and especially the donation of the Amazon store of Mitch Kolar – the 10-year-old Shop with a Cop program and now Holiday Heroes would not be nearly as successful.
Red Knight member Mitch Kolar died unexpectedly in January 2019. His sisters donated the contents of his Amazon store to Holiday Heroes.
