Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Jerry and Sharon Williams’ residence at 709 Marian is a popular place around the Christmas season. Jerry said, “We try to do different things every year, I have already thought about what I want to do next year”.
In anticipation of next season, Jerry has purchased 400-500 additional lights for their decorating project. Every year he adds a “few” more lights. Sharon and Jerry estimated that they have been decorating for Christmas in this manner for a little over 10 years. They both concluded, “We enjoy decorating.”
But this year the “tunnel over the sidewalk” idea came from his grandson. According to Sharon, Jerry searched for directions and finally found a YouTube video for some ideas how to construct the tunnel. Jerry and his grandson were going to set it up together but of course due to COVID-19 his grandson was not able to make it to Kimball for Thanksgiving.
The Christmas tunnel was months in the planning and building stages, according to Sharon and Jerry Williams. Jerry built and set up the tunnel and lights in the summer months just to make sure it was all going to work, then he tore it down and stored it in the backyard until the appropriate season.
The display also includes a nativity scene, lots of lights in their trees, Santa and music to get you in the spirit of Christmas. Generally they have a theme, but with the tunnel this year there was no theme. “We have a lot of people that stop and take pictures, some make multiple visits.”
The beautiful, unique display will be available for viewing into January as they have opted not to travel to Arizona this year due of course to COVID-19.
