Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Officials at Panhandle Public Health District said on Monday at their briefing that the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine is 80.2% effective after 14 days. Their data shows that 14.3% of adults in the Panhandle have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
The vaccine process was interrupted last week due to adverse weather, and PPHD is in the process of catching up. The Panhandle will receive 3,700 doses this week, plus the required second doses.
The shipment comes at a time when new virus cases in Kimball County were at four this past week, the same number as the previous week.
The Vaccine Timeline has been upgraded to now include vaccines for 65 and older individuals. First responders, utility workers, funeral home employees, grocery and food processing workers are in tier 1B and are projected to receive vaccinations in early March.
Emergency Rental Assistance is available if a demonstrated loss of household income resulted, either directly or indirectly, of COVID-19; this includes rent and certain utilities. Details are available at http://www.nifa.org or 833-500-8810.
