Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Banner County
Good morning! Here is hoping that you didn’t get blown away or sand blasted by the crazy winds that have been annoying us lately. Can’t even begin to call that kite flying weather.
This past weekend was a half & half, one beautiful day, and one day that was not so much. The open house at the Nebraska Western Arts Center was not slowed down one bit by all of that.
Both galleries were filled with exhibits form local area students. The Main Gallery held the “Visionaries 2021 Student Art Exhibit” and the Bronson Gallery showcased work from the 6th Annual After School Art Program, the Student Art Exhibit, the Ed Wards Project class Project and the Duck Stamp Program. These works will be on display through April 25th, and as a reminder the WNAC is located at 106 E 18th Street in Scottsbluff. They are closed on Monday, open Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and open Saturday and Sunday from 1p.m. to 5 p.m.
One of my granddaughters is a sophomore at Scottsbluff and had two of her projects displayed, I am proud to say, among many of the talented works that were there.
Here at home there is No School for students Today, Thursday, April 15th, due to ACT testing.
Tomorrow, Friday, April 16th will be a regular day of school, and high school track team members will be heading to Burns for a meet that will begin at 9 a.m. The junior high track team will compete with Harlon Sutton in Chappell on Wednesday, April 21st, at 9 a.m. Safe travel and best of luck to you all.
Just as a heads-up – Friday the 22nd is the date for the District Music contest at WNCC and that evening is the final FFA Banquet for this year’s graduates.
Speaking of graduation, there are approximately 21 days until that happens. I say approximately because I am not sure if they have snow make-up days, or when their final day is scheduled to be. Whatever it is, I am ready!
Birthdays here this week include: Cole Wyatt, Brenda Yazgerdi, Judi Lyles, Chelsea Custer, and Raelyn Perterson. Happy Happy Birthday!
Anniversary couple of the week is Mr. & Mrs. Larry Stoddard.
Have a great week and take care until the next time.
