Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Lots Of Activities Going On; Remembering Jeanette Grandstaff
Good morning Banner County, friends near and far. I do believe spring has finally sprung! We sure have had some beautiful weather here lately.
The folks in Torrington are thinking spring as the South East Wyoming Art Association is inviting all artists to participate in their annual spring art show.
Entries will be accepted on Thursday (Today!) the 29th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 307-575-3408 or 307-641-4002 for more information. The show will be open on Monday, May 3 through noon Friday, May 7.
Friday April, 30th. looks like it will be a busy day in many places. Down south in Kimball, the fourth grade students will be helping the community celebrate Arbor Day by planting some trees in Gotte Park. That will happen at 2 p.m. if you would like to join in.
Going northeast to Alliance, Box Butte General Hospital has “Device Round-Up” from 2-4:30 p.m. Items that they are especially looking for include walkers, transfer benches, toilet safety frames, wheelchairs, and shower curtains. I am sure that if you have any of these items to donate they would be appreciated.
Here at home on that same date, Friday, April 30, there is another roundup going on. Pre-K and kindergarten Round-Up will be held that morning, while current students in those grades will enjoy a day at home.
When our senior attended that years ago, he thought he was finished with kindergarten and would just start first grade in the fall. Things took a little bit longer than that, but here we are facing graduation in a short two weeks.
Both the junior high and high school track teams will attend and compete in MAC competition on Saturday, May 1, at Creek Valley.
On Monday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. the induction for new National Honor Society members will take place at the school and everyone is invited to attend.
More track for the junior high teams as they travel to Morrill on Tuesday, May 4, and to Kimball the following day. I believe both meets begin at 9 a.m. The one in Kimball is with Potter-Dix. Good luck and safe travel to all of you.
Birthdays here this week include: Amanda McGowan, Twila Griffiths, Kurt Baker, Joe Cross, Crissy Olsen, Joan Sundin, Leigh McGowan, Rachel Parker, Charline Brown, Chet Cochran and Ryan May. Happy Happy Birthday!
Anniversary couple of the week is Mr. & Mrs. Trey Mosby, congratulations!
On a sadder side, we send our sympathy to the family of Jeanette Grandstaff from LaGrange, who passed away recently. Over the years, we have had kids and grandkids go to the elevator to see Jeanette while dad was getting grain. She always had a pop in the fridge and a dish full of candy and wanted to talk their ears off. We will miss her.
Well folks, that is all for now. Take care and be safe until the next time.
