Kaitlin Heeg Takes First In The Long Jump And Triple Jump For Horns
Kimball’s Longhorn track and field team traveled to Morrill to compete in the annual George Calvert Invitational, and the boys finished fourth out of seven teams while the girls placed fifth out of eight teams.
Highlights for the boys included freshman Braylon Miller finishing third in the 1,600 meters, senior Connor Cluff placing fifth in the 3,200 meters, and the 4x100 and 4x800 relay teams each taking fourth place.
Freshman Aaron Gilming placed fifth and sophomore James McGinnis placed sixth in the pole vault and senior Christian Allen-Van Pelt took second in the long jump with a distance of 19’ 8”.
Highlights for the girls included senior Raven Johnson taking second in the pole vault, and junior Kaitlin Heeg coming up as the big point-scorer on the day by winning both the long jump and triple jump.
Other girls highlights included freshman Julia Winstrom placing third in the 100 meters, Raven Johnson taking second in the 200 meters, and Kaitlin Heeg taking second in the 100 meter hurdles and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles.
The 4x100 meter relay team placed third and the 4x400 meter relay team placed fifth, while senior Ashlynn Guzman placed fourth in the discus.
Sophomore Jayden Paxton placed third in the long jump to round out the major scoring on the day.
