Good morning Banner County! This week ends with Memorial Day.

In the Bluffs and surrounding areas there will be Memorial Ceremonies in many cemeteries and at the Veterans Home in Scottsbluff. We will remember those who sacrificed everything so we can have everything.

Also during the weekend the Omaha Strings led by Scottsbluff native Ruth Wilson Meints will give several Free and open to the public concerts.

On Friday, May 28th, they will be performing in Fort Robinson and at the Centennial Park in Scottsbluff at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 29th. On the 30th, they will be at the First United Methodist Church at 9:30 a.m. and the Chuckwagon Church at 11: a.m. And on Memorial Day, they will be at the Veterans Home at 9:30 a.m.

Other events up coming will be a three day virtual workshop offered by the Western Nebraska Arts Center titled “Artist INC Express.” Registration deadline is Sunday, May 30th. The pre-registration deadline is May 31st for the “Paint Your Pet by Number” event, which will be held at Carnegie Arts Center in Alliance in the near future. When you register you will be given instructions which will lead to a canvas with your pets picture for you to paint. You may register in person at 204 W 4th Street or at [email protected].

The Indulgence Salon in Scottsbluff has an interesting event on Monday, May 31st which will last all day. They are giving free haircuts to anyone wishing to donate hair between 10-12 inches long that has no hair color added. These pieces of hair then will be donated to “ Wigs for Kids.” If you would like more information please call 308 -635-2000 or 308-765-0007. These ladies plan on making this an annual event.

The Tails & Tales summer reading program begins at the Leid Library on Tuesday, June 1st. For more information on this one, please call 630-6250.

Here are a couple of Heads- Up notices for the near future. The 3rd Thursday on Main Street activities will begin in Torrington on June 3rd. They will always have music, food, crafts, vendors and local produce and offer late night shopping. The hours are from 4 - 6 p.m.

The second event coming up is Camp Clarke Days 2021 in Bridgeport, which will be June 3-6th.

Not much going on here in the immediate Burg. However, the Museum will open on May, 31st between 2-5 p.m. For more info on the Museum go to bannercountyhistoricalsociety.org.

There will be a Board of Equalization meeting on June 1st at 8:30 am. which will last about 15 minutes followed by a commissioner meeting.

Happy Anniversary to Mr. & Mrs. Rod Cross, Christopher Talkington, Charles Jones, Larry Hopkins, Jerry Morris, Chet Cochran, and Roy Lyles.

Well, it is absolutely hard for me to believe that after this week it will be June. I don’t even remember May.
