Shirley Ann Adels

Shirley Ann (Dickerson) Adels passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at her home in Arkansas with her family present.  

Shirley was born August 18, 1934 in Omaha, Nebraska and lived on a family farm in Auburn until she was in the 3rd grade.  From there they moved to California for a year, before settling in Kimball, Nebraska where she went to school from 5th grade through her graduation in 1952 from Kimball County High School.

She married Vernon Adels on October 28, 1953 in Kimball, Nebraska.  They lived in Kimball and she worked as a telephone operator.

To this union, one son, Rick, was born in October of 1954.  The family moved to Loveland, Colorado in 1956.  Shirley worked in the telephone office until they went dial, then worked for a Realtor and Auctioneer, worked in the office of a funeral home, and helped Vern run their own Adelsweiss Greenhouse for 20 years.  She also helped Rick at the crematory he built, and worked as a proofreader for the city directory for a couple of years. 

Shirley was a people person, and enjoyed visiting, participating in clubs, gathering groups to attend the local dinner theaters in Loveland, and just radiating love and light.  She participated in the Old Car Club, Shirley Club, Red Hat Society, an Ostomy group, and kept in touch with family and friends whom she loved dearly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of almost 63 years, Vern, and their only child Rick, parents H.A. and Murl (Howery) Dickerson, sisters Lois Vencill and Helen Meyer, brother William Dickerson, and infant sister Betty Jane.  She is survived by sister and brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as many wonderful friends.  She will be missed by all.
