Meet The Millers, Grand Marshals

Grand Marshals for the 2021 Potter Days celebration are Phil and Evie Miller, longtime residents of the Potter Community.

Phil was born in Sidney. At 7, he moved with his family from Gurley to Sidney. He graduated from Sidney High in 1964 and attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo.

Evie was born in Sidney also. She graduated from Potter High School in 1962, and the Central Business College in Denver. She was the secretary at St. Paul Lutheran Church for many years, and also held several part time bookkeeping jobs.

Phil and Evie were married at the St. Paul Lutheran Church north of Potter in 1966. They farmed for 53 years north of Potter, where they resided. In 2010, they moved into Potter.

Phil is a member of Lutheran Layman's League and the Potter Lions Club. Evie serves on the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, the Potter Historical Museum Board, and she has volunteered at the Coyote Caller and A Collective Gathering Flea Market.

The Millers are the blessed parents of four children, Amy (who is deceased) and Matt Jones of Potter, Angie and Tom Ebel of Billlings, Mont., Greg and Mindy Miller of Seward, and Karl and Rachel Miller of Seward. They have 15 grandchildren and three great-granddaughters.

Phil and Evie have helped in many ways with Potter Days. Phil helped cook and serve the meat for the BBQ, and helped with farm exhibits. Evie helped with craft exhibits, served at the BBQ and made pies and cinnamon rolls for the Youth Center Stand, where they volunteered. They helped decorate several parade floats for their church.
