Well folks, just like that, September is out the door and here comes October! Man how the time sure does fly.
Beautiful time of the year and for this weekend the Autumn Adventure Play Zone is open at the Riverside Zoo with a giant pyramid, hay maze, hay slide giant Jenga & more. All day, everyday through November 30th.
The Morrill Farmers market will also open now on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are planning on being in business through October 30th.
For the last day of September (TODAY!) there will be a drive-through Job Fair at the Scottsbluff Job Center, 505 A Broadway. Enter from the north side of the building and pick up a bag full of information anytime between 4-6 p.m.
On Friday, October 1st the Night Maze will be held in Bayard, at the BE Farm, 11249 Rd. 73 from 4-8:30 p.m., and then on Sunday the 3rd of October they will host “Growing For Hope” Pink Pumpkin fundraiser between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Gering Public Library will be celebrating a Red Tag Event as they recognize the 101-year anniversary of when the library went from a private to public facility.
If you are wanting Gerbel from the Zion Evangelical Church this year, put in your order by October 1st by calling 632-8125 for pickup the next day between 10 a.m. & noon.
The 9th annual Harvest Moon Fall Festival in Chadron will be at the Dawes County Fairground on Saturday, October 2nd between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. They are planning on tons of events and vendors.
Also on the 2nd, Scottsbluff will be celebrating Community Heroes Day with free admission for veterans, police, firefighters, nurses, and first responders. This will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Sunday, October 3rd. the Knights of Columbus Breakfast Buffet will be open to the public between 8 a.m. and noon at 1719 1st Ave. in Scottsbluff.
The St. Agnes Catholic Church at 2314 3rd. Ave. will host Father Jim Sichko, who is based in Lexington, Kentucky, from October 3-5 as a Parish Mission speaker. Each evening this will be open to the public from 7-8 p.m.
The Folks in the Sidney area will be celebrating in various ways their annual Oktoberfest October 1-3rd. For more information go to http://www.sidneyoktoberfest.com/
Here at home the Harrisburg Community Church will host Ignite, youth group for junior & senior high students, at 6 p.m. on each Wednesday evening.
We have some local birthdays that include: Renae Griffiths, Bob Cooper, Sharon Sandberg, Ashley Talkington, Rylie Mason, Logan Mason and Taylor Evans. Happy Happy Birthday!
Anniversary congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Brian Luppen and Jon Vrtatko.
On the sports calendar, the high school volleyball team will play here at home (Tonight) against Arthur at 4:30 p.m. and there will be football following at 6 p.m. Earlier in the day there will be cross country at Bayard.
There will be a regular school day on Friday, October 1st. More high school volleyball on Tuesday, October 5th at Leyton, game time at 5 p.m. and junior high volleyball on Wednesday the 6th at Potter-Dix, while on that same date the junior high boys play football here at home against S. Platte, at 2 p.m.
