Malson 26th Against Tough Competition; Braxton Miller In Junior High Top 10
The Kimball Longhorn cross county team was in action at the Ogallala Invite on Sept. 23.
In the varsity girls division, Chantel Malson competed against the Ogallala, Cozad, Gothenburg, McCook and Chadron girls. She ran in 26th place with a time of 22:44.
Participating in the varsity boys division and leading the Kimball team was Braylon Miller in 69th place against some tough competition. Miller ran in 20:51. The winning time was 16:54.
Xavier Thomas-Lewis placed 76th with a 21:03 time and Wyatt Cords completed the varsity course in 21:36.
Junior Matthew Johnson participated in the JV division and placed 25th with a time of 22:01, followed by James McGinnis at 35th running the 5,000 meter in 23:23. Rounding out the JV team was Joseph Bremer placing 44th and freshman Patrick Howard with 48th place.
Kimball’s junior high runners compete with the high school in all their cross country events.
Braxton Miller placed 7th in the 3,000-meter race and Trey Cook followed him in 17th place running 12:17.32. Cameron McGinnis placed 44th, Wyatt Cook 79th, Peter Russell 87th, Kip Gillming 90th and Parker Fredrick 93th.
Next up for the Kimball runners is the Gothenburg meet Sept. 30, the WTC meet in Gordon on Oct 4 and the SPVA meet Oct. 7 in Grant.
