Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Superintendent Trevor Anderson at the Nov. 8 Kimball School Board meeting sent out Requests for Proposals to see what companies would be interested in renovating the HVAC systems in both the Jr/Sr high school and Mary Lynch School.
Danielle Reader provided the Jr/Sr High School Principal Report for November, explaining that Parent-Teacher Conferences were a disappointment because of low turnout.
About 38% of parents attended.
In addition, Reader’s comments indicated a low turnout for the monthly Longhorn CAFE October meeting.
With the total enrollment of 161 students for 7-12, Reader’s report stated that there had been 976 referrals to Longhorn Time.
Students are referred to Longhorn Time if they are missing assignments or have failing grades. During Longhorn Time, the student and teacher work on a plan to improve the grade.
A lengthy discussion followed about the Stampede Cards and the reward of open campus.
Only about 40 students did not obtain a Stampede Card, while about 130 students met the requirements.
Mary Lynch Elementary School Principal Jamie Soper explained how the staff had made use of Wednesday’s professional development days.
Meanwhile, the Grandparents Breakfast is scheduled for Nov. 23.
In another matter, the school finances appeared to be on track as Superintendent Anderson’s report stated 12.81% of the budget had been spent, although 16.7% of the fiscal year has been completed.
Actual money spent is $1,278,743.42. Meanwhile, $2,925,034.54 cash on hand is in the General Fund.
The next Kimball School Board meeting is scheduled for Dec. 13.
