Eager New Coach Cory McManigal Assesses Roster Before Dual With Bayard
We will have seven wrestlers this year for first year coach Cory McManigal. Coach McManigal will be assisted this year by Bob Culek and Justin Mohr.
We open our season on December 2 with a home dual vs. Bayard at 6 p.m. We hope see a full room gym.
106 Matthew Johnson Jr. -- Coach McManigal’s thoughts on Matthew: I think Matthew can be one of the top 106 pounders in our region and state. He will need to stay healthy in order to have a good season.
113 Aaron Gillming So. -- Coach McManigal’s thoughts on Aaron: Aaron is very eager to learn the sport. I think Aaron can be very improved from last year if he does all the right things.
120 Cody Brinkman Fr. -- Coach McManigal’s thoughts on Cody: I am very excited to have Cody wrestle this year. With his unique size and length, I think he can be a very dangerous wrestler if he can learn to use his length to his advantage.
132 James McGinnis Jr. -- Coach McManigal’s thoughts on James: I expect James to be the leader of our program. He’s a hard worker that does anything and everything he needs to do to be successful.
138/145 Justin Klosterman Jr. -- Coach McManigal’s thoughts on Justin: I am very excited to have Justin on the wrestling team this year. I think with Justin’s athletic ability and strength he can be a very valuable wrestler to our team this year.
138/145 Trey Schnidler Jr. -- Coach McManigal’s Thoughts on Trey: I expect Trey to do good things this year if he does all the right things in school and practice. I expect Trey to emerge as a leader of our team.
160/170 Derek Kauffman So. -- Coach McManigal’s thoughts on Derek: I am very excited to have Derek on the team this year. He was a kid that I was after since I took the job because of his athletic ability. I think with hard work he can be a very good wrestler.
We will have three Jr. High student managers this year: Mason Holmes, Tyler McManigal and Cameron McGinnis.
Coach McManigal Thoughts on the Season: We are hoping to have an increase in numbers this year. We want to bring a tough hardnose style of wrestling to all our competition. We will have no seniors so we have a good foundation to build off of if we can get some quality numbers out. I very excited for the chance to be a head coach. It has always been a goal of mine to be a head coach. I have worked under five hall of fame coaches that have all taken the time to teach me the craft of coaching this great sport. I look forward to putting in the work to make this program be the model of Kimball Athletic Dept.
