A new study from a financial planning organization lists Kimball County among the Top 10 counties in Nebraska with the strongest small business presence.
To be precise, Kimball County checks in at No. 8.
The study measures IRS data on the number of small businesses operating in each county, how much income they generate and what they pay in taxes. The study was conducted and released by the SmartAssett financial planning marketplace.
Kimball County’s small business index is 61.32.
Here are Top 10 counties and their indexes: Saline 77.41, Cherry 68.43, Phelps 67.97, Gosper 64.04, Filmore 63.06, Grant 61.89, Hooker 61.36, Kimball 61.32, Loup 61.12 and Hall 61.04.
To determine the best places for small business owners, the study measured three factors:
• Proportion of people in a county with small business income.
• Reported business income.
• The amount of tax a potential resident must pay on their income.
