Hottell Challenging Gillway For Sheriff
Candidates filing for political office in Kimball County started bright and early on Jan 5.
Christy Warner filed for mayor and was the first person to file at 8:14 a.m.
Other filings for mayor of Kimball included John A. Morrison.
The mayoral position is a nonpartisan position and a four-year term.
Other filings for the City of Kimball were Creg Pike for Kimball City Council, which is a four-year term.
The incumbent filing period is from Jan. 5 to Feb. 15, while nonincumbents have from Jan. 5 until March 1 to file.
At 8:16 a.m., Harry Gillway filed for another term as sheriff, and just 15 minutes later another individual filed for sheriff, David J. Hottell. Both are Republicans.
Three individuals have filed for two seats on the Kimball County Board of Commissioners: inclumbents Rich Flores and Lawrence G. Engstrom, and challenger Elyse M. Schake Lukassen.
Incumbents Cathleen A. Sibal filed for county clerk, Sherry R. Winstrom for assessor, Cindy L. Rahmig for treasurer, and Debra Diemoz for Clerk of the District Court.
Travis L. Cook filed to remain on the Board of Education for the Kimball Public Schools.
The primary election will be May 10 and the general election Nov. 8..
