Joan J. Pearson

Joan J. Pearson – a teacher to hundreds, a mentor to many, and a Christian role model to all – passed away at her Fort Morgan home on November 24, 2021, after suffering a brain injury.

Born on April 21, 1943 in Kimball, Nebraska to Dean and Helen DeLong, she graduated from Potter High School, and then from Chadron State College with a degree in Teaching and Counseling.

For the next 20 years she put her degree to use in the Nebraska public school system teaching Science and Math, as well as guiding many young minds through her counseling.

She became a farmer's wife when she married Ted Pearson on May 31, 1981, in Kimball. She was employed at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center for the next 19 years, serving as Administrative Assistant, Director of Development, and Fundraiser throughout those years. She then moved on to Morgan Community College as the Director of Development for 5 years, before retiring.

Joan was a member of PEO, Rotary, and Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, as well as numerous relatives.

Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by those that survive her: Her loving husband, Ted, daughter Debi Pearson, sisters-in-law, Eileen Carlson and Joyce Wahlert, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Sunday, December 5 from 2-4 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush.

Funeral services were Monday, December 6 at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush. Interment followed in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
