Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Potter-Dix's Lady Coyote basketball team has struggled through most of the season, but has shown continuous improvement and has battled hard against their opponents.
On Friday, the Lady Longhorns of Hyannis came for a visit, and the game was a battle the whole way. After trailing most of the way, the Lady Coyotes were able to get within three at 30-to-27 in the final minutes of the third quarter. However, the Lady Coyote offense stalled and ended the period down by four at 33-to-29.
The Lady Longhorns then got their offense going to start the fourth quarter, while the Lady Coyotes could not break through the defensive pressure of Hyannis. The Lady Coyotes were only able to put up five points in the fourth quarter against Hyannis' 13 points, and fell by a final score of 46-to-34.
The Lady Coyotes had another chance on Saturday, traveling to match up against the Arthur County Lady Wolves.
However, the Lady Wolves ramped up the defensive pressure and kept the Lady Coyotes on their heels for the whole game.
The Lady Coyotes only managed 23 points in the game, while Arthur County put up 53 points in the victory.
The loss moves the Lady Coyotes to 5-and-15 on the season, and the number four seed Potter-Dix girls moved into Subdistrict play, traveling to South Platte to match up against Creek Valley in a play-in to determine who goes against number one seed South Platte on Tuesday.
