Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Two Kimball High School winter athletes were announced this week as members of the Western Trails Conference 2022 All-Conference teams – and another eight Longhorns earned honorable mention recognition.
All-Conference honors went to senior Chantel Malson of the Lady Longhorns basketball team and junior Trey Schindler, who competed at 152 pounds on the wrestling squad.
Wrestlers receiving honorable mention were junior Matthew Johnson at 106, freshman Cody Brinkman at 120, and juniors James McGinnis at 132 and Justin Klosterman at 138.
On the girls basketball side, seniors Maddison Merryfield and Katie Heeg achieved All-Conference honorable mention.
For the basketball boys, freshman Kyler Lusche and sophomore Wyatt Cords were All-Conference honorable mention selections.
Outside Longhorns Nation, WTC basketball MVPs were Gordon-Rushville junior Jace Nelson for the boys and Bridgeport junior Ruthie Loomis-Goltl among the girls.
In wrestling, conference MVPs were Hemingford 113-pounder Creel Weber and Bridgeport 160-pounder Steven Menke.
