Coyotes Busy, District Next

Potter-Dix’s Coyote track and field teams had a busy week, starting off with the MAC meet on Tuesday and then the Cheyenne County Meet on Friday.

The Coyotes traveled to Bayard for Tuesday’s competition, featuring their MAC conference rivals. The boys team placed fourth with 93.5 points, behind first place Leyton with 165 points, second place Garden County with 107 points and third place Bayard with 97 points.

The girls placed fourth with 65 points, behind first place Bayard with 163.5 points, second place Leyton with 107 and third place South Platte with 85.5.

The conditions were favorable with a slight breeze as temperatures warmed during the day, setting the stage for many outstanding performances by the Potter-Dix athletes.

For the boys, Potter-Dix junior Luke Kasten won the 100 Meter Dash with a time of 11.58 and also won the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.62. Kasten also placed third in the Long Jump.

Potter-Dix senior Thomas Muldoon won the 400 Meter Dash in 4.21 and the 800 Meter Dash in 2:07.59. Muldoon also won the High Jump clearing 5’ 6”.

Potter-Dix freshman Crystal Dhooge placed second in the 800 Meters and 1600 Meters. Potter-Dix junior Jayden Shoemaker placed second in the 3200 Meters and second in the High Jump. Potter-Dix junior Lily Tabor placed second in the Shot Put.

On Friday, the Coyotes traveled to Dalton for the Cheyenne County Meet at Leyton High School. Again, the weather conditions were favorable, and there were more outstanding performances by the Coyotes.

The boys placed third with 79 points, behind first place Leyton with 157 and second place Paxton with 110 points. The Lady Coyotes placed fifth with 71, behind winner South Platte with 131 points, runner-up Leyton with 80 points, third place Kimball with 76 points and fourth place Paxton with 74 points.

For the boys, Potter-Dix junior Luke Kasten won the 200 Meters with a time of 24.01 and sophomore Brayden Kasten placed second in the 400 meters. Junior James Pease placed second in the 1600 Meters and 3200 Meter. Senior Thomas Muldoon won the High Jump, clearing 5’ 10”.

For the girls, Potter-Dix freshman Kallie Crossman won the 100 Meter Dash in 13.67, a personal best, and freshman Crystal Dhooge placed second in the 1600 Meters. Junior Lily Tabor won the Pole Vault clearing 7’ 6” and placed second in the Shot Put.

The Coyotes next compete at the NSAA D-9 District Meet at Leyton High School on May 12.
