Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
This year's JH State Track and Field Championships in Gothenburg was only for 7th and 8th grade students by invite only.
The top 24 boys and girls all-class in each individual event, plus the top 16 relay teams, were invited to compete based on "ALL" 2022 results posted to the Nebraska middle-school athletic.net website.
This year Kimball had the three athletes invited to compete: Peter Russell, Trevor Fuss, & Braxton Miller.
Peter Russell competed in the pole vault and received 5th place out of 23 for his vault of 10"8", bettering his PR from 10'0".
Trevor Fuss competed in the pole vault as well and also getting 10'8" placing him 7th out of 23 and bettering his PR from 9'9".
With both going 10"8' they are now tied for 2nd All-Time on Kimball's 8th Grade Pole Vault records list with each other.
Braxton Miller competed in the High jump and Triple Jump, just making the cut in both events. In the High Jump, he cleared 5'5" on his 2nd attempt, tying his previous PR and placing him 14th out of 26.
In the Triple Jump, he bested his PR of 35'9" by going 36'7.5" and breaking the 8th grade all-time record of 36'1.75". He made finals and ended up 9th place out of 24, just 1/4" away from the medal stand.
All three of the Kimball athletes that qualified and competed had a great experience and represented the school and community of Kimball well.
