Good morning! Well, wind is the word of the day. Took one of our stock tanks and folded it up like a taco shell. Not to mention sucking all moisture out of everything. So, let’s have a calmer week!
Today, June 23rd, if you or anyone you know might be interested in gaining information about any military service or academy and the opportunities they have, there will be an informative session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. during the Third District Service Academy Open House at the Leid Library in Scottsbluff. At 1:30 p.m. the Free movie at the Midwest Theater will be “Great Muppet Caper.” That evening the Band On Broadway concert will feature The Greendales and The Victory Underground. Bring lawn chairs or seating of your choice and just enjoy. Time is from 6 - 9 p.m. at 18th Street & Broadway.
Another entertainment choice is the Theater West summer performance of “Last Five Years”. Each performance will be at 7:30 p.m. 23-25th with a matinee on the 26th at 2 p.m. The place to be is the Judy Chaloupka Theater on the WNCC campus. More info is available at 308-635-3192.
June 24 & 25th the folks in Potter will be hosting their annual Potter Car Bowl from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Events include a car show, barbecue, duckpin bowling, a craft show and much more.
Saturday, the 25th of June, is a busy day. The town of Broadwater will celebrate Broadwater Days with a parade, and much more. Information is available at http://www.facebook.com/broadwaterdays.
The VFW located at 2710 N 10th Street in Gering will serve pancakes that morning from 7-11 a.m. Also on that date if you are out west a ways, the annual Mini Fair will be an all day event in LaGrange. We were up that way a few days ago, actually in Hawksprings, and just missed two deer crossing the road there in LaGrange on the way home. Thankful that I missed them. I have hit several over the years. On Sunday, June 26th the Theater West Twilight Garden Walk will take place from 4- 8 p.m. Call 308-672-7509 or 631-4282 for more info. A garden of a different sort will be presented at the Gering Library on Monday evening from 6-7 p.m. Wildlife filmmaker Merlin Dohrn will explore the many species of bees in his film My Garden Of a Thousand Bees. Free and everyone is welcome. Music in Torrington, in their city parking lot on the 29th from 6- 9 p.m. will round out the week in the surrounding area. Here in the Burg Vacation Bible School will begin on Monday, June 27- July 1st. The theme this year is Monumental Celebrating God’s Greatness.
