Sonja C. Armstrong passed away on May 7, 2022 at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, California. She was 80 years old at the time of her death. Sonja is survived by her daughter Julie Armstrong-Burkhart, her son, Arthur Armstrong Jr., and her ex-husband, Arthur Armstrong.
Sonja was born on November 2, 1941 to Estelle and Wallace Peterson in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
She moved with her family to San Mateo, California at an early age. Sonja attended elementary and high school in San Mateo.
Sonja married Arthur Armstrong at 19 years of age and lived in San Carlos.
She gave birth to their daughter Julie Ann Armstrong in 1962 and her son, Art Armstrong Jr., in 1964 at Mills Hospital in San Mateo.
Sonja later moved to Los Altos, where she was a homemaker and a proud mother.
She supported her children in sports and animal husbandry.
Her favorite passed time was taking care of her home, children and animals.
In 1987 she and her husband purchased a ranch in Grass Valley, California. For 35 years, Sonja was able to pursue the dream of having property to own horses, cows and other pets. She was an animal lover and volunteered to care for and adopt animals needing a home.
At the time of her death, her daughter and ex-husband were present as well as her beloved dog Kengee.
