Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Kimball Women’s Golf has started its season, and three weeks of golf have been played, with June 15 the fourth week.
President of the league, Charlotta Young, has been instrumental in acquiring additional teams and many subs. Twelve teams now play on Wednesday evenings, so there will be 12 weeks of women’s golf along with the horse race and battle of the sexes.
For Week 1, low net scores included Jan Bashaw with a 32 and Payton Wise with a 33. Payton Wise had a low gross with a 38, followed by Pattie Klinginsmith with a 41. Low putts winners were Payton Wise with 14 and Jan Bashaw with 15.
For Week 2, the women played the back nine, and Payton Wise once again had low gross with a 40, and she had low putts with only 13 putts, while Regan Hinton captured low net with a 29.
Flag prizes for week two were won by Laura Hall, Alene Schilz and Judy Daum.
Pattie Klinginsmith shot a 41 on the front nine in Week 3. The low net was a tie between Jen Wise and substitute Jaecee Drapal. Both had a 32. Phyllis Greenwood used her putter only 15 times for the low putts. Laura Hall holed out on No.1 green. Pattie Klinginsmith, Jodi Keeler and Jen Wise all won flag prizes for closest to the pin.
