Folks Encouraged To Attend Sept. 6 Commissioners Meeting
Good morning, goodbye August and hello September! Man has the summer flown by and our first taste of fall finds many of our surrounding neighbors celebrating their own special communities.
Today, September 1st, the 14th annual Light of Hope benefit for CAPstone and CASA will be held at the Gering Civic Center from 5-7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Sasha Neulinger, director of the movie "Rewind." Free admission and everyone is invited.
You still can join one of the park rangers at the Scotts Bluff National monument beginning at 10:30 a.m. on September 2nd and join in on an "Emigrant Experience" tour and discussion.
This is free also and tours will last through 12:30.
The next two days at the Monument you are welcome to come take a "Summit Stroll" on a guided walk on one of the trails available at the park starting from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Saturday to Sunday, September 3-4 the folks in Potter will be celebrating Potter Days with more events than I am able to mention! Live music, a craft show, bowling, a car show and a cornhole tournament with the Air National Guard are part of what the events will be, so check it out.
On Sunday, September 4th, the Meadowlark Health Farm is hosting the 10th annual Seed Festival. This will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are located at 120024 Evertt Drive in Scottsbluff, and this year they will be demonstrating seed cleaning techniques and giving guided tours, plus more. Saturday, September 3, to Monday, September 5, will be the dates for the annual Camp Clarke Raiders Fall Rendezvous. They have a full and awesome schedule also and contact information is available at 308-262-1080 or campclarkeraiders.com.
Also September 3-5, another celebration will be taking place in Rushville during Rushville Fun Days. More information available by visiting http://www.visitsheridancounty.com/. That pretty much takes care of area community celebrations over this 2022 Labor Day weekend.
The High Plains Auto Club Classic Car Cruise group will meet at the Scottsbluff Dairy Queen on September 3rd at 5 p.m. and begin cruising the streets at 6 p.m. More information is available at 308-641-4988.
The SkyView Drive-In will be featuring 3 FREE movies over 3 days in observance of Labor Day. All will begin at 8 p.m. September 2nd there is'The Goonies' ; September 3rd it's "Cannon Ball Run II;" and September 4th is "Caddyshack." Enjoy!
Here at home and on the school grounds, September 2nd will see the cross country team competing in Gering at 11 a.m., the high school football team at home vs. Sioux County at 2 p.m. and the high school volleyball team vs. Sioux County at 4:30 p.m.
NO School Monday September 5th due to Labor Day, but more high school volleyball on Tuesday the 6th, again here at home vs. Bayard. Game time is 5 p.m.
Wednesday, September 7th, junior high volleyball is at home vs. Potter-Dix at 1 p.m. followed by junior high football at 2 p.m.
Earlier that day the 4th grade class will be heading to the Legacy of the Plains Museum to take part in the Tools and Technology program. Safe travel and best of luck to all of you.
Flowerfield begins this week but I am not sure of our first visitors at this point, so just be aware.
The next Banner County Commissioners meeting will be on Tuesday, September 6th at 8:30 a.m. A lot going on and an election year to boot.
