Good morning, and happy fall to you all, as the saying goes. This past weekend gave us some perfect fall days that were absolutely beautiful., great for all of the action for Farmer’s Day or to visit the Adams Family Pumpkin Patch.

This week is fairly busy too with FFA Judging – Today! – September 29th and cross country at Bayard beginning at 2:30 p.m.

The Hay Fort is open at the Riverside Discovery Center and so is the Splash Pad as long as the warm weather holds. Before long the Spooktacular will be open. Guess the splash pad will close at that time or soon after.

If you enjoy chess, the Gering Library will host games that evening from 6:30-7:30 p.m. If you would like more information, call 436-7433.

Friday the 30th there will be sports action here at home vs. Creek Valley. High school volleyball will begin at 5:30 p.m. and football at 7 p.m.

This is First Responders Recognition Night, and I know there has been quite a competition among the classes to raise money for these much appreciated folks.

Oktoberfest in Sidney will be held September 30th to October 2nd. Throughout the weekend there will be a parade, band contest, horseshoe contest, a 5k/10k run and so much more. Find that information on http://www.sidneyoktoberfest.com/.

The 6th annual High Plains Mini-Con will be held at Uptown Scottsbluff, formerly the Monument Mall. They will be there all day with comics and pop culture, a cosplay contest, video games and more. You can find out more at [email protected]. This will all be going on Saturday, October 1st.

Our high school volleyball team will be in Morrill that day for an invite that will begin at 9 a.m., and the high school band members will be in Chadron.

On Sunday, October 2nd, the Harrisburg Community Church will have a carry-in pot luck lunch at the museum following services. A horseshoe tournament will follow lunch. Everyone is invited.

On Monday, October 3rd, you have an opportunity to meet U.S. Representative Adrian Smith. He will be at the school at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria answering questions. A GOP meeting will follow.

On Tuesday October 4th the 5th grade students will be off to learn more from the North Platte Natural Resource District, and the high school volleyball team will participate in a tri-meet competition here at home with a start time of 5 p.m.

Wednesday, October 5th, belongs to the junior high. They will be traveling to play against South Platte with volleyball and football both at 2 p.m. Safe travel and good luck to all of you throughout the week.
