Busy Kimball XC Runners Fare Well At WTC

As the fall sports season draws to a close, the Longhorn cross country runners participated in two meets in less than a week – Thursday at Gothenburg followed by the WTC meet on Monday.

Kimball junior high girls received second place in the Western Trails Conference championship meet in Hemingford. WTC highlights include Emmaline Tabor’s 10th place finish and Trey Cook’s 8th place.

Other highlights include Braxton Miller’s 8th place finish at WTC.

In Gothenburg, Shannen Acheson placed 62nd with a time of 31:24.

Leading the pack of Kimball runners at Gothenburg was Xavier Thomas-Lewis clocking a time of 20:49, capturing 47th place in a field of tough athletes from Class A and B schools. Braxton Miller was 49th and Braylon Miller 56th with times of 20:56 and 21:37. Juniors Joseph Bremer and Wyatt Cords placed 67th and 70th.

JV runners were Patrick Howard in 45th place, Peter Russell in 52nd place, and Eddie Duran in 55th place.

The Western Trails Conference XC Championship was held in Hemingford on Monday, Oct. 3. Junior Shannen Acheson was the lone female runner for Kimball, placing 18th with a time of 27:30.57.

In the boys division of the 5K run, Braxton Miller topped the Kimball runners with 8th place in a time of 20:20.53. Senior Xavier Thomas-Lewis ran in 11th place just 13 seconds behind Miller.

Braylon Miller ran the course in 21:40.14 for 15th place, Joseph Bremer placed 20th and Wyatt Cords was 23rd.

The remaining Kimball runners stayed steady with Eddie Duran 29th, Patrick Howard, Peter Russell, and Jacob Wendt in 32nd place.

The Kimball boys team placed third at WTC with 34 points – receiving team points for Kimball were Braxton Miller, Thomas-Lewis, Braylon Miller, Bremer, Cords, and Duran.

The Kimball 7th and 8th graders also participated in both meets.

The Kimball middle school cross country team faced tough competition at Gothenberg. Trey Cook led the way in the 3,000 Meters run for Kimball. Trey was 29th in a field of 140 runners. Other Kimball runners were Connor Markum in 109th, Wyatt Cook in 115th and Kip Gillming placing 129th.

In the middle school WTC, Trey Cook took 8th with a time of 10:00.74, Wyatt Cook came in 29th followed by Kip Gillming in 30th, and Connor Markum in 32nd.

The junior high girls competed against over 100 entries at Gothenburg. Emmaline Tabor ran in 39th place with a time of 15:20. Aundrea Christiansen was 62nd and Charlotte Bremer in 67th place, Deanna Solis 79th and McKenzie Howard was in 102nd place.

The Kimball middle girls placed second at the Western Trail Conference Championship, with Emmaline Tabor leading her team on the 2500 Meter course in 11:53.48 for 10th place. Finding 13th place was Aundrea Christiansen, Deanna Solis, Charlotte Bremer and McKenzie Howard completed the team, and all Kimball runners scored points for the second place spot.
