Legion Hall In Dix Getting A Makeover

By the Spring of 2023, the Legion Hall in Dix will be restored and available for public events, according to Joe Bayura, Jr., who purchased the building in June 2022.

After the purchase, Bayura and his crew immediately got to work on the building.

The first thing that was done was to re-paint the American flag on the south side of the building.

In addition, they have hauled loads of trash out of the building and put over 600 lbs. of mortar on the inside, both on the sides of the building and in the back.

The Legion building was constructed between 1920-21 as an implement dealership where they sold tractors and other farm machinery.

By 1922, the American Legion had acquired a charter and made that building their home. Bayura is interested in finding pictures and the history of the building so that they can restore the building as it was initially built.

Bayura is from Cleveland, Ohio, and has intentions of bringing his Ohio-based business to the Dix area.
