Observations all along the line - Kimball & the Southern Panhandle First
Good morning, little on the cool side around here, but no snow they were predicting. Good for that, although we are quickly approaching November.
At this point, Halloween has been celebrated in various places in several ways and this Friday, October 28th there will be one more. At Hotel 21, 2605 10th Street in Gering there will be a WNAC fund raiser, Boos and Brews. The event will run from 7 - 10 p.m. and more information is available by calling 308-632-2226.
On Saturday, October 29th there will be a Sip & Shop Showcase at the Weborg 21 Centre, 2625 10th Street, Gering. Available will be breakfast and lunch and also baked goods from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
That evening if you head to Mitchell the German Harvestfest will be at the Scottsbluff Fair Grounds with the foodfest beginning at 5 p.m. and some dancing at 6:30 p.m. The music will be provided by Bob Schmer and the River Boys Polka Band. On Sunday, the 30th the folks in Minatare will be hosting at the Minatare Public Library - Halloween High Jinks. Begin at the Library at 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. for a parade ( 3:30 ), Trunk or Treat ( 4-6 ), plus games and a bounce house.
On Halloween, October 31st (darn! a school night ) Trick or Treat downtown Scottsbluff will be held from 4-6 p.m. At the Midwest Theater, celebrating Halloween, ParaNorman will play on the 28th & 30th at 7:30 p.m. and is rated PG.
However, on Saturday the 29th The Rocky Horror Picture Show will play, for adults age 21 plus ( I D required ). The show/action will begin at 6:45 p.m. with prop bags, etc. and costumes are encouraged.
Also, Scary Nights at the Riverside Discovery Center will still be open on the 28th and 29th between 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. This one is for ages 13 years and up.
As for around the Burg, the annual Harvest Meal will take place at the Fire Hall, no time available, with trick or treating at the museum following the meal.
Friday, the 28th there will be No School for students, however there will be junior high wrestling at home beginning at 9 a.m. and high school volleyball district finals begin the next day. bringing us up to Halloween, October 31st at the schoolhouse with parties and the costume parade.
Gardens pre-K through 5th will party it up beginning at 3:45. Then before you know it it is November! The 1st will find those junior high wrestlers in Kimball with matches beginning at noon and rounding out the week the following day high school state volleyball tournaments begin.
