Coyotes Win Third Straight District Title

Potter-Dix's Coyote Football team traveled to Big Springs Friday night to match up with South Platte for their final regular season game of the year, and came away with a big 81-28 win to move their record to 8-0 and lock away the D6 District 5 title.

It was the Coyotes' third consecutive undefeated regular season result, and third consecutive district title.

As has become habit, the Coyotes jumped out to an early lead, putting up 26 points in the first quarter and 28 points in the second quarter to open a 54-to-8 lead at the half. The Coyotes substituted liberally in the second half and were still able to add another 28 points while giving up 20 points to the Blue Knights to end the game in an 81-28 victory.

Senior Luke Kasten rushed for 225 yards and five touchdowns on just 10 rushing attempts while junior Jaxen Buettenback rushed for 61 yards on four carries and scored a touchdown.

Junior quarterback Brayden Kasten went 5-for-8 passing for 92 yards and rushed three times for 24 yards and a touchdown.

Freshman quarterback Dylan Tabor completed tow of three passes for 14 yards and two touchdowns.

Potter-Dix churned out 363 yards on the ground and threw for 109 more, finishing with 472 yards of total offense.

The 8-0 Coyotes next host 4-4 Brady at Combs Field in Potter on Friday at 5 p.m. for the first round of the playoffs.

Potter-Dix has qualified for the postseason for the last three years, and finished as the Class D6 runner-up last year.
