Busy Days With Holiday Events Have Arrived In Harrisburg Area

Banner County

Good morning, and a chilly one it is! Here in the Burg that is an appropriate comment for sure.

Years ago one of our county residents put Christmas decorations up on the county shop building, I miss that. Several folks do decorate though and that is great.

The school is gearing up for the holidays starting this Saturday, December 10th with Breakfast with Santa beginning at 8:30 a.m. Plus breakfast and Santa there will be picture opportunities, treats, wagon rides, and more.

Then on Tuesday the 13th of December the Entrepreneur Extravaganza Expo will be in the little gym beginning at 4 p.m. and followed by the Christmas program at 6 p.m.

The Harrisburg Community Church will host a special evening of music on Saturday, December 10th at 7 p.m. You are invited to join them to listen to the piano/violin duo of Kevin and Heidi Cheng and enjoy in coffee and cookies following the concert.

The junior/senior high Youth Group,Ignite will continue to meet on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. until the Christmas break.

Other happenings at the school include high school boys basketball at Bayard on Friday, December 9th with game time set at 5:30 p.m. More of the same on the 10th at Peetz at 2 p.m. while the high school girls basketball team will head to Minatare to play Guernsey, game time also at 2 p.m.

Monday the 12th at 7 p.m. the school board will hold its monthly meeting, and on the 14th there will free dental exams and sealants for pre-K to 1st graders.

On the 15th, the junior high boys basketball team will play at South Platte beginning at 1 p.m. Hopefully they will be home in time for the Dinner Theater and One Act Play performed that evening. No time available on that as of yet but you can call the school at 436-5262 and ask for Ayden Vrtatko for more information and ticket sales. The play is a comedy and is titled “Mrs. Patterson’s $5,000 Dog Is Dead.”

Over the hill the Midwest Theater will be playing for free one of our most loved Christmas movies, “ELF,” on Saturday the 10th at 1:30 p.m. The Banshees of Inisherin will play that evening at 7:30 p.m. and again on the 11th at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday the 10th at the WNCC Judy Chaloupka Theater, the performance of the Very Valley Christmas concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. The concert will also be performed the following day at 2 p.m. and both concerts are FREE and open to the public.

Also on Saturday the 10th of December, the 34th annual Cookie Walk will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Gering United Methodist Church. They are located at 9th & O streets.

The 13th annual Festival of the Trees will be in Torrington on Main Street, most of the day on Monday, December 12th where you can bid on trees, wreaths and decorations.

Sounds like some busy days!

Safe travel to all of you, take care and just think, only three more weekends to shop before Christmas!!

Take care until next time, Barb Cross at 436-7152.
