Marilyn Ann Morgart

Marilyn Ann (Christensen) Morgart, age 84, of Bushnell, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Kimball. Marilyn was born March 29, 1938, near Bushnell, Nebraska, to Elmer and Barbara (Claeys) Christensen. She attended and graduated from Bushnell High School in Bushnell, Nebraska, in 1956. She married Larry Woken and together they had one son, Jim. They were later divorced. She married Gerald Eugene (Gene) Morgart on December 23, 1983. She lived most of her life in the Bushnell area, but also lived in Dallas, Wisconsin, for a time.

Marilyn first began work at the Bushnell grocery store and she also held several bookkeeping/clerical positions. She worked in the insurance field for most of her life and was a licensed insurance agent for many, many years in the Kimball area, and loved visiting with people.

She was a member of the Kimball Ambassadors, the Calvary United Methodist Church of Bushnell, and the Bushnell Fire Belles. Memorials may be made to the Bushnell Fire Belles (auxiliary of the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department).

Marilyn's first love was of her family and she especially doted on her grandchildren – she attended many games, programs, and races. Her second love was music – the Panhandle Ramblers band played country/western music around the area for many, many years, and she was an awesome singer. In her teens, she was part of a high school band that even played music on the radio.

Survivors include her son Jim Woken of Ogallala, sisters Agnes Walker of Dalton, Nebraska, Shirley Sterle of Muleshoe, Texas, grandsons Cole (Lori) Hodges of Ogallala, Craig Woken of Kearney, Casey (Chelsey) Woken of Altoona, Iowa, great-grandsons Kaleb, Austin, & Corbin Hodges and great-granddaughter Brexlyn Woken, and many nieces and nephews, as well as step-children Randy (Neva) Morgart, Jeff Morgart and step-grandchildren Doug (Michelle) Barrett, Dennis Barrett, Donald Barrett, and Duane Barrett, and many loving friends and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Barbara Christensen, first husband Larry Woken, husband Gene Morgart, brothers Lloyd and Darrell Christensen, sister Betty Bymer, and two infant siblings.

Her memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball, which is charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 9, from 1 to 5 p.m.
